Merry Christmas

I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!!

Final pre-req courses

Over the last three weeks I've been working on registering for my last three pre-requisite classes for USD's PA program and getting more and more stressed.  There are so many schools now that offers courses online but I need to watch if they offer the correct number of credits.  They start mid-January and I wish I was in the middle of the courses.  Finishing my undergrad was tough but getting through these last science pre-reqs has been so much more difficult.  I just keep telling myself I've gone this far and survived, the rest should be fine.  Biochemistry, organic chemistry, and microbiology is all that stands between me and PA school at this moment.  I need to have them set up and ready to go before Jan 21. Otherwise I need to give my interview slot to another applicant.  These last courses must be done by June in order to qualify for acceptance.  I'm sure this stress is nothing compared to what PA school will be.

History Lesson

Just a brief history of who I am and how I got here.  I have been a paramedic for the past 8 years. I am married and have two boys.  My family has been my rock and my inspiration and I would not be as far as I am without them.  My decision to pursue being a Physician Assistant started just prior to becoming a paramedic. I was an EMT and loved the patient contact.  At that time, we decided we did not have the financial means for PA school and chose to get my paramedic cert. This turned out to be a great decision.  I gained much experience and knowledge that will make PA school slightly easier to swallow. Over the last 3 years, I've worked hard at finishing my undergrad in Psychology and obtaining my pre-reqs for grad school.  I sent my CASPA application and school application in this past summer. I have to finish three courses this spring..microbiology, biochemistry, and organic chemistry. I did receive an invitation to interview at my school of choice a few days ago.  This interview is on Jan 21 and is in two parts.  If I'm accepted, school starts in the early fall of 2012.  Please send a lot of prayers my way!  It's still over a month away and I'm nervous already!

A welcome...to you and me!

Welcome to my return to the blogosphere! I'll be blogging my days leading up to my PA program interview and hopefully my letter of acceptance into the program. Some of you may remember my other blog documenting my days as a paramedic. I've since abandoned that and began a new one to coincide with my new journey. I plan on updating all of you as often as possible. It's been almost a year since I started this blog just to talk about the day to day grind. It will be changing to focus on my goal of becoming a PA.  Prepare to experience the stress and challenges I will be faced with!
